A young boy falls into a coma-like state while paranormal activity haunts his family. That is the story of James Wan’s movie, Insidious, which scared the shit out of me. Granted that is not too hard to do. Aside from some new aginess in the middle and some bland dialogue, it was a well conceptualized plot. The use of sound effects, especially with the piano, although very old school, worked. There wasn’t any gore but the lighting, makeup, and special effects were all utilized to the fullest extent to produce the memorably frightening scenes. Hopefully this motion picture will not induce too many sleepless nights out of me.
