I didn’t know what to expect from “Dead End” as the opening credits rolled. About half-way, I drop-kicked my preconceived notions that it was some type of slasher (and thus bound by its rules) and began to enjoy it. The makeup used for the “mutant hillbilly cannibals” was awesome. The writing was better than decent for this film with much symbolism throughout. I also found the juxtaposition of how the cannibals lived and how the reality show participants adapted to the situation entertaining. This movie really expanded on ideas of earlier films such as the Hills Have Eyes (1977) and went to places they did not.
