In this “rerun” segment of my 40 Days project, I re-watch some of my favorite horror flicks from when I was a child to my adult years and see if they have aged well (or if my taste buds have changed).

Director: Steven Spielberg

Starring: Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gary, and Murray Hamilton

Writers: Peter Benchley, and Carl Gottlieb

Producers: Richard D. Zanuck, and David Brown

Studio: Zanuck/Brown Productions

Distributor: Universal Pictures

Run Time: 2 hr 4 min (124 minutes)

Based on: Jaws by Peter Benchley

Spielberg’s Jaws is a movie that makes great use of the camera with its zooming, extreme closeups and magnificent underwater shots.  Also excellent was the acting of Roy Scheider whose facial expressions and body language as well as his delivery made everything seem convincing.  The direction of the extras also created a festive atmosphere of Independence Day weekend at a beach-side destination, with credibility.  The machine used for the Great White itself is still a special effect to be marveled to this day and may be for future generations.  Jaws is still as great as I remembered it.  It’s not just nostalgia, folks.
